EAST ST. LOUIS, IL—According to city officials, the newly opened Wynn-Johnson Plasticorp factory should bring more than 250 jobs and 170 cancer cases to the East St. Louis area. "In addition to creating some 250 badly needed, good-paying jobs, ranging from shift supervisor to maintenance worker, this plant will create countless malignant tumors," East St. Louis mayor Carl Stubbs said. "Wynn-Johnson's illegal disposal of industrial by-products into the local water supply will likewise cause health problems in the yet-unborn children of local residents who themselves are just children." The factory is also expected to create more than 35 new jobs in East St. Louis Memorial Hospital's oncology ward.
