A Network With A Long And Storied History
The history of the network can be traced all the way back to the radio tower purchased by The Onion founder and president T. Herman Zweibel in 1882. The Onion released its first newsreel with moving pictures in 1889. In 1953, The Onion brought its brand of news to television, with the airing of The Onion News at Five, and shifted to 24-hour all-news programming in 1982.
