IRS: Hackers Stole Info From 100,000 Taxpayers

The Internal Revenue Service admitted Tuesday that “an army of hackers” used the personal data of 100,000 taxpayers to break into an IRS online service and steal their tax returns and other information, which the IRS has promised to rectify in part by providing credit monitoring. “That’s kind of them to offer, but I’ve already got free credit monitoring from the Target and Chase Bank data breaches.”

“Good luck. They can’t damage my credit rating any more than I already have.”
