Metallica, “One”

The intro is easy, but the tapping part of the solo is kind of hard to figure out without tabs. It’s actually not that bad when you know what the notes are. Once you get it, it sounds so sick.

Red Hot Chili Peppers, “Under The Bridge”

We’ve known the intro for a long time, but we finally looked up the tab so we could learn the rest of it. It’s pretty much the same thing over and over again, but with some different pull-offs and hammer-ons sometimes.

Rage Against The Machine, “Killing In The Name”

You have to tune your guitar down to drop D for this one, but it’s really fun to play.

Queensrÿche, “Revolution Calling”

This song kicks so much ass. Don’t use any of the tabs for this on 911tabs.com, by the way. Those are all wrong, and half of them only have the chords. Actually, we ended up having to figure out most of it ourselves.

Green Day, “Longview”

This was really a bass tab, but that was the part we wanted to learn anyway. It takes, like, two seconds to learn, and it actually sounds pretty good on guitar.

Guns N’ Roses, “Sweet Child O’ Mine (Intro)”

Even though it sounds totally badass, the intro to this GNR song was actually pretty easy to pick up. We tried to learn the solo in the middle but it was way too hard, so we gave up—we kind of have to do our own thing there.

Joe Satriani, “Surfing With The Alien”

We’ve been trying to learn this one forever, but we found this tab online that actually lets you hear the tab being played along with a MIDI file, which made learning the rhythm part way easier. Forget about learning the solo, though—it’s so fast, and you need a whammy bar for it, but our guitar doesn’t have one. Satriani is so fucking good. Maybe not as good as John Petrucci, but he’s definitely better than Steve Vai. Vai’s kind of overrated. Did you know Satriani was actually Vai’s guitar teacher when they were younger? Crazy, right?

Soundgarden, “Outshined”

This is pretty much the best song on Badmotorfinger. I used ver. 4 on UltimateGuitar.com. All the other ones were messed up and didn’t sound right.
